The Danish retailer, that first opened its doors at Preston's St George's back in November 2015, has announced it's plans to close - with a poster now being displayed in the store window stating 'It's time to say goodbye Preston'.

The news comes after the company confirmed that its stores in The Bridges Shopping Centre in Sunderland and Eldon Square in Newcastle are also set to close at the end of September.

Tiger sells a range of quirky homeware, kitchenware and stationery and has often been likened to being a smaller version of Ikea.

The store reopened back in June after coronavirus lockdown restrictions were lifted but has since failed to make any profits in recent months, according to Managing Director Michael Burke.

He said: "We can confirm that our store in Preston is planned to close at the end of September, unfortunately this store has been unprofitable for some time.

We continue to look for new opportunities and great locations in the north west, and hope to see our Preston customers in our other UK stores soon."

Tiger began in Copenhagen in 1995 and now has nearly 1,000 other stores across the world.
