They say you should never mix business with pleasure - but try telling the city’s rugby club.
Preston Grasshoppers is to host a new networking event under the umbrella of a gin festival.
The Hoppers Business Network is an informal collection of local businesses who all share a connection with the rugby club.
And organisers have come up with the novel idea of kicking off the festive season by throwing in a few brands of gin just to oil the wheels as business types schmooze the room meeting new contacts and hopefully laying the groundwork for a deal or two in the future.
“It’s a relaxed afternoon of business networking, giving businesses and business owners the opportunity to connect and chat, while enjoying one of the many gins available,” said a spokesman for the HBN. The networking event is an aperitif for the rugby club’s Gin Fest, which boasts a host of goings on for the gin lover and novice alike.
Amongst the attractions are gin tasting and a masterclass about the spirit and its many uses.
There will be information on a vast array of 50 different gins, together with mixers and gin cocktails. Gins will also be available to buy by the bottle as gifts.
If that wasn’t enough to whet the whistle, then food and gift stalls will be available at the club’s Christmas market, with live music. The networking group is urging businesses to “invite and share with colleagues, clients and guests.”
The event runs from 1pm to 6pm on Friday December 1, before the doors to Hoppers’ Gin Festival open to the public.
