New takeaway van for cheese lovers launches at Preston Docks
Mr Cheesy, a new food van for cheese fanatics that serves breakfasts, toasties and drinks is now based at Preston Docks.
The brand new bright yellow van is located on the Bowker Motorrad car park each week from Wednesdays to Sunday, offering visitors cheesy treats to takeaway.
Among the toasties available to buy is cheddar cheese with ham and dijon mayonnaise, pulled pork and barbeque sauce and jalapeno, onion and tomato.
And the new business officially launched conveniently on National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day last Monday, April 12 and has been a hit with visitors so far.
Mr. Cheesy owner Daniel Fox said: “As we come out of lockdown this is the perfect time to offer Preston Docks visitors, shop and office workers a new outdoor food and beverage experience.
“We are easy to find and perfectly located at the gateway to the Docks. Customers can pop in to grab a bite before a walk round the dockland basin or during a lunch break from the offices.
“We’re looking forward to turning new friends into regulars and hope Prestonians will love our food.”
Dan had seen the truck for sale, with its yellow colour then inspiring him to begin selling cheese toasties from its new prime position at the Docks.
Despite not having any experience in food, he hired manager Kally Draypott, who is originally from New York, to run the business day to day.
Kally, 25, said: "Dan got the idea for a food truck down at the docks because it is a great location. He hired me to run it for him, all of my experience is in front of house and I have managed bars and restaurants all my life.
"We are in a great location at the docks, it is a perfect position for people to come and get quick lunches and go for a walk, especially in the nice weather.
"So far the response has been amazing and people absolutely love it. It is something different for people as there isn't another food stall business like this. People have been walking from all over town to come and see us.
"We have only been open a week and it has been a lot busier than we expected. Thankfully because of the amazing weather, people have been enjoying the outdoors and going for walks around the docks, so it has been a great start for us.
"We saw the lockdown as an opportunity to start the business because people can only eat outside currently and they might want somewhere to get their lunch without queuing up or needing a booking."
The iconic van was specially imported from France. It had previously been used by Michelin before being transformed into the new home for cheese toasties in Preston.
Visitors can grab one of their signature cheese toasties at the Bowker Motorrad car park, Customs Way, from Wednesdays to Sunday, or find out more at their page.
