Leyland cattery to close after 15 years

A popular cattery in Leyland will close its doors early next year, says its owner.

Sandy's Arundel Cattery in Slater Lane will close at the end of January 2021, says its owner Sandy Mcvitie.

Sandy has cared for thousands of cats in the 15 years since she first opened the cattery's doors in 2005.

Confirming the closure on Facebook, she said: "It is with great sadness that I have to announce that as from the end of Jan. 2021, Sandy's cattery will be closing.

"I would like to thank all of the customers I have had with their lovely cats. It is a very sad time.

"15 years of caring for all the felines and a few rabbits and birds that came to stay, I will miss them all.

"Once again, thank you everybody, and hope you all have a better 2021."

Cat owners from across South Ribble have expressed their sadness at the closure and have been quick to thank Sandy for her services over the years.

Ady Humphries said: "Sandy is a wonderful person who loves cats and treats them like her own, also she has a human quality that extends beyond just looking after your pet in that she is very kind and genuine.

"Thank you Sandy for looking after Marvin, we always felt at ease leaving him in your care."

Another regular customer, Angela Smith, added: "Very sorry to hear your news Sandy. Thank you for looking after our cats so well and giving them love and care while we were away."

Sandy's Cattery will close permanently on January 29, 2021, but Sandy has confirmed that all Christmas bookings will be honoured for those that have already booked.
