The choir, which has 20 members and in based in Preston, are no strangers to performing alongside big names.

Back in the 2014 they were part of promoters Cuffe and Taylor’s Symphony at the Tower event when they performed with Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins.

Matthew Williams, musical director of the choir, said: “I feel really honoured that we’ve been offered this gig and I am incredibly excited for us to be singing with such a notable performer.”

The tour sees Classic FM presenter Aled visit cathedrals across England, Scotland and in his home country of Wales on a series of dates throughout May and June.

It follows the release of his hugely successful album One Voice which soared to the number three spot in the Official UK Album Chart last month.

One Voice has also smashed Aled’s own personal best becoming his highest ever charting solo album, marking a sensational comeback for the former choirboy, with his first Top 10 album in 30 years.

Aled said: “I’m incredibly blessed to be able to perform not only in a stunning array of Cathedrals up and down the country, but also alongside some of our very best choirs.

“I’m really looking forward to coming to Manchester Monastery and being joined on stage by Preston Musical Comedy Show Choir as part of the tour, giving audiences the chance to experience some of my favourite songs in beautiful surroundings.”
