A Santa’s grotto for pooches has been set up by one enterprising firm near the airport in a bid to bring a little festive spirit to pets and owners alike.

It has come from dog treats specialist Barking Bakery which supplies cakes and muffins, or rather woofins, to four legged friends across the country.

She said: “This year has been so awful for so many people, we wanted to do something fun and raise money for a dog’s charity on the Fylde coast.

“We came up with the ides of the grotto. People can bring their beloved dogs along, have their picture taken with Santa Paws and the elves and have some fun.“Th

is time of year is always difficult for dogs too. So many get sent back as unwanted presents.

She said the team had put coronavirus measures in place at the grotto which will be open to pups and public on Sunday December 20 and Monday 21 from 11am to 3pm.

She added: “We have had a lot of interest already. I think most people will have finished work by then and so we chose those days to give everyone a chance to come along.”

Visitors can make a donation to the Homeless Hounds charity in Blackpool and in return they get a doggy goody bag. A professional photographer and artist will also be present for people to buy pictures.
