The new Express store will open at the former Perry’s car showroom at Station Garage in Preston Road, near the Railway pub.
The Post reported in February that plans were submitted to South Ribble Borough Council to transform the site into a convenience store, but the identity of the shopping chain remained confidential until now.

Tesco to open new Express store in Leyland
Yesterday (Thursday, August 4), notices appeared fastened to posts outside the building stating that Tesco has applied for a license to sell alcohol between 6am and midnight.
However, the regular opening hours are expected to be 6am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday.
Planning documents reveal only ‘minimal changes to the external appearance of the building’ are planned. These include the blocking up of two existing doors with brick work and the installation of new windows and doors to create a new customer entrance on the Moss Road side, facing the railway station.
The car park will be resurfaced and there will be spaces for 16 vehicles, including one disabled parking space.
Planning documents do not mention a cash machine being installed at this stage.
Tesco says the store would "meet local residents' daily shopping needs”, despite its close proximity to a number of local supermarkets, including Lidl and Morrisons half-a-mile away.
In its planning documents, it added: "The application proposal will deliver economic, social and environmental improvements which will enhance the local area and bring opportunities for local people."
The store is expected to create 15 full time equivalent jobs.
Tesco has not confirmed an opening date for the new store – its fifth in Leyland – at this stage.
The town currently has a Tesco Extra in Towngate and Express stores in Turpin Green Lane, Leyland Lane (Earnshaw Bridge) and Pendle Road (Clayton-le-Woods).
Perry's closed down in Leyland in June 2020 and the site has since remained vacant.
Tesco were approached for comment.
