Hannah Browne, 28, painted beautiful botanical and bouquet murals on boards over the windows at The Continental pub, transforming it into a work of art.

Now as it prepares to reopen, the pub is selling off the artwork to raise money for a local community organisation.

The pub said on social media: "We're auctioning our beautiful painted lockdown boards by local artist Hannah Browne, with all proceeds going to local community group WIndrush Initiatives CIC.

"It's all happening on eBay."

The pub's owners suggested the colourful artwork to reinforce the message that the building on South Meadow Lane had not simply been abandoned.

Preston-based Hannah was hoping to start a Fine Art degree in September, before the coronavirus crisis struck.

The pub approached her with the idea of painting the six large boards over the windows.

It took her around a week, on and off, to transform them into colourful bursts of flowers.

The paintings are on eBay now under "Continental Lockdown".

Meanwhile the Continental has confirmed it will reopen on Saturday July 4, the first official day sanctioned by the Government.

A spokesman said: "We're keen to ensure that The Continental can re-open and operate in a safe but relaxed manner."
