Staff at the two Travelodges have been asked by guests to defy the laws of nature by arranging for the stars to shine brightly outside their room, arranging for the tide to be in at 7am so the guest can go surfing, or even asked to move one guest’s bed to the beach so they can hear the Irish Sea better.

But the quirkiest queries included one man at South Promenade Travelodge asking staff: “Can you pack 100 sticks of rock into jiffy bags that I can post to my clients?”

Staff there were also asked by one guest: “Can you arrange for six donkeys to attend my wedding?”

Another asked: “Can you teach me ballroom dancing – I want to impress my girlfriend?” while another asked: “Can you add lots of clouds of candy floss into my room as a surprise for my children?”

She said: “Throughout the year, our hotel teams receive thousands of interesting requests from business and leisure guests.

“Where possible, our hotel teams will go above and beyond to help customers as they relish a good challenge. Interestingly the requests change regionally, seasonally and this year we have even received interesting requests around social distancing.

“However, there are some requests beyond their control such as: stopping the seagulls from squealing, switching off the Severn Bridge fog horn, identifying UFO hot spots and getting a grandmother a degree from Oxford University.”
