Carpets team in new business launch

Jen Slack is launching Better Protect next Monday to help householders protect their soft furnishings from stains and pets.

She said she spotted a niche in the market while working with husband Andrew and the Doctor Carpet business.

She said: “My husband had been working for the company for 10 years and four years ago we had the chance to buy the company.

“We have always had plans to develop the business further and this is part of that.

“We noticed that there was a huge gap in the market for easy to use and effective anti-stain products for upholstery and carpets.

“It took a long time to get the formula right and even researching the right sort of triggers for the spray to make it easy to use and yet to give the right coverage of spray.

“There are lots of stain removal but no really effective protection products for the householder to use.

“The product has been created to maintain the condition and cleanliness of carpets, rugs and upholstery in both domestic and commercial settings by providing an invisible, resilient barrier once applied, serving to prevent dirt and spillages from infiltrating into the fabric.

“Having owned a carpet cleaning company for almost four years, I know for certain that there is a demand for stain protection as it is a service we actually provide through Doctor Carpet.

“While those clients are fully aware of its value, there are plenty of people out there who don’t realise how much longer their carpets, rugs, and upholstery could last if they were cared for, and this is where Better Protect comes in.”
