Think music festivals and your thoughts may turn to wading through mud and long queues for drinks and the loo.

Not in Chipping where RibFest13 brings an eclectic mix to the village hall from the March 1-3.

Goosnargh-based Hollow Horse Events has lined up a mixture of national names supported by some of the best in local talent.

The three-day extravaganza begins on Friday night with The Travelling Band playing the first night of their national tour (£9 a ticket).

Carl Barrow, of Hollow Horse Events, said: “It’s quite a coup for RibFest13 to be chosen as the starting point for their tour and as Ribble Valley favourites Sweeney Astray are the support it should result in a full house and a great atmosphere.”

Saturday evening will see the return of Ian McNabb showcasing his new album in the North West for the first time.

Ian will add in all the favourites from his solo and Icicle Works days (£10 per ticket).

Sunday evening’s climax is provided by Liverpool legend Ian Prowse.

Ian will bring his own brand of Celtic Rock to the stage and with his band mates will perform all the Pele and Amsterdam classics including the John Peel favourite Does This Train Stop on Merseyside”.

Support is provided by local heroes The Ragamuffins. Tickets are £10.

Saturday and Sunday afternoons provide a relaxed ambiance in the hall where an array of talent as diverse as George Borowski, Hence The Tortoise, Pete Aldridge Band and The Susie Jones Band. £4 each afternoon with the full line up still to be confirmed.
