The band, who emerged out of the noughties nu-rave scene, have taken their critically acclaimed eponymously titled third album around the country and will clock off at 53 Degrees on Wednesday, October 22.

Formed in Telford in 2000, but relocated to Leeds, it’s eight years since explosive dance-punk debut Raise The Alarm saw them bracketed alongside genre pioneers like Klaxons and New Young Pony Club.

The third album came out in May, when the departure of bass player Daley Smith had forced a rethink of the way they work.

“We wanted to make an electronic-sounding record, “ says vocalist Craig.

“It was time to get our heads around production and beat programming. Nobody had set roles in the band any more.”

To fund the album, TSU turned to crowdfunding site PledgeMusic, and exceeded their target within four months.

The Sunshine Underground play 53 Degrees on Wednesday October 22. Tickets cost £13.50 (+fee), strictly 14+
