Blackburn King George’s Hall hosts We Are Scientists on Thursday, July 2014 and Funeral For A Friend on Friday, September 26.

We Are Scientists exploded on to the scene with one of 2005’s iconic indie dance rock records, With Love & Squalor.

They hit number 11 in the charts with nightlife anthem After Hours and had main stage slots at Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury, T In The Park, and festivals all over Europe, as well as appearances on Later with Jools Holland.

Now, after releasing a seven-inch and a five-song EP in 2013, the band prepare to share their finest collection of songs to date.

Singer and guitarist Keith Murray said: “Working for the first time with Chris Coady as producer had a huge effect – he has such a distinct and well-developed sense of what’s cool and what sounds good, but he’s also emphatic about keepingthe rawness of the performances in there.”

Meanwhile, Funeral For A Friend changed British rock with a journey from hardcore roots and DIY shows in Bridgend to worldwide tours. Funeral For A Friend enter 2013 the most determined and excited the band have ever been. Heavy touring is planned throughout the year with the band determined to get back to their roots a little, embracing the smaller rooms and DIY shows that they themselves love.

Matthew Davies-Kreye said: “My goals are simple – to work hard, play shows, have fun with my friends and make music that matters to me.

“Those are the only goals I’ve ever had when it comes to this band and they’re not going to change.”
