A towering season to come

There is a packed programme of events at Hoghton Tower over coming weeks.

On Sunday July 27 a Love Craft Summer Fair from 10am to 4pm will bring wonderful hand-made products and gifts for all.

The house will be open for guided tours 11am to 5pm, with the last tour at 4pm. The tea room, gardens and gift shop are also open.

On Wednesday July 30 there is Arts and Crafts with Mandyfrom 11am to 2pm.

Summer holiday fun with Mandy, there will be two arts and crafts sessions for children. £2 per child.

There will also be a 1.30pm Family Friendly tour. £8 adults, £6 children and concessions.

On Monday August 4 there are Creepy Crawlies from 11am to 3pm, when guests can meet different Insects, Reptiles, and Arachnids. Regular 40 minute sessions between 11am to 3pm.£4 per child per session, adults free.

On Wednesday August 6, there is Walking and Drawing with Artist Lisa Wigham from 11am to 4pm.

Escape for a day of walking and drawing in the enchanted woodland and historic castle gardens of Hoghton Tower.

Lisa will share skills in sketch book making, outdoor painting and drawing using a range of techniques.

Suitable for anyone from beginners to experienced artists. Materials provided. Suitable for children over 6 must be accompanied (advance booking essential). £12 per person.

On Thursday August 7 Chapterhouse Outdoor Theatre presents The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes at 8pm (Doors 7pm).

Deep in the Northumbrian countryside a terrifying mystery and legendary nemesis await the arrival of the world’s greatest deceptive.
