Blackpool’s Grand Theatre is asking dog owners if their pet has what it takes to become an opera star.

Now award-winning opera producer Ellen Kent is looking for a local dog to star in the role of Muzetta’s pet dog in the beautiful and romantic opera La Bohème, which comes to Blackpool on Wednesday, April 2.

Celebrated international guest soloists are set to appear on stage, but there is still one role left to be cast: a local dog.

Ellen said: “Many years ago, when we last did La Bohème, we asked local people to volunteer their pets and it was a huge success.

“We even used a rescue dog once and found him dozens of new owners.

“The successful dog - of any breed - will need to be well-behaved and small, and the owner will need to accompany their pet onstage in costume.”

To audition a pet, applicants should send a photograph to Sadie Williams at sadie@ellenkent.co.uk. Successful applicants will be contacted one week prior to the performance.
