After visitors to Madame Tussauds were invited to vote for their favourite Scot, the attraction was inundated with ballots for the former James Bond actor, whose figure was recently ‘re-styled’ from the well-loved tuxedo cocktail jacket into a more traditional tartan kilt for his 83rd birthday.

With more than 35% of visitors to Madame Tussauds Blackpool coming from Scotland each year, the world famous attraction wanted to “sh’elebrate” their arrival by bringing the Scottish icon ‘up North’.

General Manager Matthew Titherington said, “Last year we welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors to Madame Tussauds Blackpool, and with such a large representation from Scotland, we had to do something special to honour their love of the resort.”

Sir Sean Connery, born in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, played James Bond seven times and has been polled as the Greatest Living Scot.

Standing at 6ft 2.4in and taking more than three months to create, the figure usually resides in London.

Set over five floors and 14 themed areas of interactive fun, Blackpool is the UK’s only Madame Tussauds outside of London and offers visitors the ultimate fame experience.
