Chorley Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (CADOS) chose Southlands as the intimacy of the venue will help to heighten the drama.

Both plays are by the Irish playwright Enda Walsh and are directed for CADOS by Robert Walsh (no relation), a former Youth Theatre member making the step up to adult drama.

The main play is Chatroom, in which six teenagers meet online to talk about everything from Britney Spears to Willy Wonka.

Things take a dark turn when one contributor talks about suicide and the others take different stances.

A hard-hitting drama with moments of dark humour, the play explores modern teenage life and the differences between online personas and real life.

The second play, Disco Pigs, follows two teenagers raging against small-town mediocrity as they wreak havoc.

But their world-view is shattered when a crisis hits one of their lives.

CADOS artistic director Mark Jones said: “We’re always looking to develop new actors and directors, so this studio play is a great chance.

“The season at Chorley Little Theatre is doing well, but it’s nice to do something more offbeat and Southlands have been fantastic letting us use their new performance space.”

Performances are Thursday, November 13 until Saturday, November 15 at 7.30pm.

Tickets £7 from Malcolm’s Musicland or 01257 264362 or www.chorleytheatre.com.
