Rising Damp plays at the Lowry
After a successful opening in Blackpool, a national tour of the stage version of TV sitcom Rising Damp reaches the Lowry in Salford next week.
It’s a new production from the Comedy Theatre Company, and is directed by original cast member Don Warrington.
The ITV sitcom ran from 1974 to 1978, set in a run-down Victorian house where Rupert Rigsby rules the tenants who rent out his shabby bedsits.
Don Warrington played Philip Smith alongside Leonard Rossiter and Richard Beckinsale.
He is now filming the third series of BBC TV’s Death in Paradise and, later this year, stars in an all-black version of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons at Manchester Royal Exchange.
Rising Damp runs from Monday to Saturday. Box Office: 0843 208 6005 or www.thelowry.com
