Review: Players’ Angels

Written by the author of Ladies’ Day, the play is set in Nottingham in 1953 and follows a group of friends who work on the production line of the John Player tobacco factory.

Cyn is an aspiring starlet, beautiful and sassy; Vee has just got married but feels insecure about what her new situation requires; Glad has a dark but wonderful secret; and Mae, who comes to work in the big city, has a warm heart and an open mind, and might just rescue them all in the end.

A warm and amusing comedy about life in simpler times when there was more camaraderie among people.

A revival of Miss Saigon is opening in the West End next year with more than £4,000,000 of tickets pre-sold! Lytham Academy of Theatre Arts are doing their production of Miss Saigon at the Lowther Pavilion, Lytham from Thursday, November 14 until Saturday, November 16.

The plot, staging and casting created a storm of protest in the late 80s when the War was still a raw memory for Americans. Over 30 years later, the show has lost none of its power and with the music and lyrics by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, who also composed Les Miserables, it produces some of the most beautiful music ever written for a musical.

LATA are always prepared for a challenge as shown by their award winning production of Les Miserables in 2010. Every show was a sell out and this production is going to be of the same high standard.

The award winning team of Lynda Clarkson (Director), Sean Ashmore (MD) and Michael Boe (Vocal Coach) have once more collaborated to bring the audience an amazing piece of musical theatre.

The students have been working hard to bring Vietnam to the Fylde Coast and the talent of these young people never ceases to amaze.
