Artistic director of Meladrama Melanie Ash said: “If you’ve ever fancied a go at acting or would just like to be a part of something exciting in Preston and meet new people then we would love to hear from you.”

The event is one of more than 150 taking place across Britain as part of a celebration to mark a century since the birth of the great theatrical entrepreneur Joan Littlewood, a woman nicknamed the ‘Mother of Modern Theatre’.

Littlewood’s vision was to create ‘fun palaces’ for people of all walks of life to come together and celebrate arts, culture and science but it is only now, 12 years after she died, that her dream will be realised.

Local actress Josie Cerise who starred as Mouse in the West End production of Gruffalo as well as numerous other TV and theatre roles , will lead the Play in a Day workshop .

The event begins at 11am, with the play starting at 7pm. Places are limited to 30. If you are interested in registering contact Melanie at [email protected] or call 07885454351.
