A political play relevant today

Set in an unspecified, religiously-run European state, Jackets examines the different worlds and outlooks of Brian Tebham, an army private and Phil Lewis, a member of the civilian resistance.

The city is in a state of civil unrest and the army are searching for any excuse to step up military operations.

With the knowledge of an army padre, Private Tebham’s murder by his friend Lewis is arranged, to be used as justification for increased ‘protection’ of the city.

This contemporary piece is an interesting contribution to local culture and history, having originally been commissioned for Lancaster University’s 25th anniversary.

Jackets is a compelling piece of political theatre and still as relevant in today’s political environment as it was in the 1980s.
