New director gets in on One Act

The festival, organised as ever by The Broughton Players, began yesterday and continues until Saturday night.

Preston Playhouse theatregoers are being treated to a selection of original plays, new directors, actors, as well as well known pieces of drama in a beautiful, comfortable theatre.

The adjudicatorswill give an appraisal each night climaxing in the presentation of trophies on the Saturday.

The Grimsargh Players are performing a scene from Noel Cowards ‘This Happy Breed’, in which Frank and Bob come home a little on the merry side after a Regimental dinner.

George Mackin plays Frank and Chris Turner plays his old army pal Bob, Queenie the daughter is played by Bethan Crook, all is fun and games until they wake Ethel, Frank’s wife played by Marie Gorman – and nobody expects what follows.

Chris Turner is the Players’ new director for the production.

The theatre has a friendly bar, disabled facilities and free parking with a pass obtained from the box office.
