At least I didn’t get shot

Preston’s Phil Walker’s act has taken him to some weird and wonderful places, from a scout hut in Unst in the Shetland Isles to a cabin on mount Alice in the Falkland Islands.

He’s also entertained more than 4,000 troops on tours in Afghanistan as part of the Combined Services Entertainment – the official provider of live entertainment to the British Armed Forces.

He said: “I’ve played to some tough crowds in my time but they where never armed to the teeth with machine guns before, thank God they liked me.”

For servicemen he’s also played The Falkland Islands, Kosovo, Kuwait, Bosnia and Germany, appearing with fellow comics as well as eighties icons Tony Hadley and Bucks Fizz.

Phil started his career on the holiday park circuit working for Butlins.

After an open spot at the Frog & Bucket comedy club in Manchester he turned his attentions to the Comedy Club scene.

By 2002 he was voted City Life Comedian of the year – previous winners include Peter Kay again Steve Coogan.

He made his debut at the Edinburgh Festival two years ago where he received four stars for his show Is This It?
