This one man comedy about death features Frank Wurzinger as Günther Obermaier who begins to live life to the full when he discovers he hasn’t long left.

He makes plans, plays music and chats to his goldfish, keeping on a brave face while trying to convince the audience and himself that he’s alright.

Goodbye Günther is affectionate and life-affirming rather than melancholy and is a delightful mix of physical comedy, pathos and joy.

Performed in The Round at the Lancaster theatre, Goodbye Günther is a Lancaster Arts City First Friday event and is recommended for anyone aged 13-plus. There will be a talkback session after the show.

Goodbye Günther is one of Lancaster’s Dying Matters events which take place throughout May. From May 19-24, The Dukes will also be hosting an exhibition raising awareness of death, dying and bereavement featuring work from a schools competition
curated by Lancaster Dying Matters Coalition.
