GBS is swinging into the 60s

The London Contemporary theatre adaptation has injected George Bernard Shaw’s work with all the fun, fashion and music of that decade.

The GBS play has seen many adaptations, notably the musical My Fair Lady starring Audrey Hepburn as Eliza.

The tale of Henry Higgins’ plan to make a lady out of common flower girl Eliza Doolittle explores attitudes to class, relationships and human behaviour that are as relevant today as when written in 1913.

This new fast-paced version is bang on trend with the new season’s fashion, with Autumn/Winter collections from labels such as Fendi and Chanel featuring classic 60s numbers.

Perfect timing for this take on Pygmalion then, and also for fashionatas who can pick up some makeover tips at the show!

London Contemporary Theatre is known for exciting productions, and bringing the story forward a few decades under the direction of Jonathan Ashby-Rock has created Pygmalion as you have never seen it before.

The play is at Preston Guild Hall’s Charter Theatre on Wednesday October 21 from 7.30pm.
