It was inspired by Plato’s Timaeus – his attempt to explain how the world came into being – where he describes geometrical shapes known asPlatonic Solids.

Macarena’s work involved unfolding three of the shapes – a tetrahedron, octahedron and icosahedron – and fragmenting them. She then used egg tempera and gilding on wood and gesso panels to create the final exhibits.

Macarena graduated with a BA in Visual Arts 10 years ago then studied digital illustration and completed a postgraduate course in art restoration in Chile.

She specialised in painting restoration in Argentina before coming to the UK in 2012 to study for an MA in Fine Art at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.

She has previously exhibited in Chile and Argentina.
