‘Crazy For You’ is the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930’s playboy, who dreams of being a dancer. And, despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon to be ex-fiancée, Bobby achieves his dream.

Preston Drama Club’s latest production at Preston Playhouse Theatre is the classic English farce, ‘See How They Run’ by Philip King, written and set in rural England in World War 2.

Vicar’s wife and ex-actress, Penelope Toop, is already disapproved of by village matriarch, Miss Skillon. Things get worse when she is visited by Clive, an old theatre friend, now in the army, who borrows her husband’s spare vicar’s outfit.

When an escaped German POW steals the real vicar’s clothes, and another vicar and a bishop come to visit, the scene is set for a fast-paced farce of jealousy and mistaken identity, with a drunk and love-starved Miss Skillon adding to the confusion

The Hall Players start their season with ‘Curtain Up’ by Peter Quiller, a comedy about a group of women who inherit equal shares in an old ruined theatre and get involved in all kinds of chaos and madness to save it from destruction.

The play is a light-hearted, entertainment which has had audiences laughing in Britain for over a decade. Created for a cast of five women, the show has had over 100 amateur productions in the UK.
