Written by Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall, the play is about 19-year-old Billy Fisher who lives with his parents and grandmother in an industrial town in Northern England.

Set in 1960, in order to escape his dull life and boring job as an undertaker’s clerk, Billy retreats into a fantasy world, with hilarious results.
