Fresh from a sell-out run at the National, People stars Brigit Forsyth – Bob’ wife Thelma in Whatever Happpened to the Likely Lads – and award-winning TV and stage actress Siân Phillips.

The play reunites Bennett with director Nicholas Hytner, following collaborations on The History Boys and The Habit of Art.

People is Alan Bennett’s sixth play for the National and concerns itself with the heritage induistry.

People spoil things and the last thing one wants is them traipsing through one’s country pile – but with the park a jungle and a bath on the billiard table, what is Dorothy to do? Her archdeacon sister wants to hand the estate to the National Trust, but Dorothy favours a more creative solution.

It runs from Tuesday to Saturday with Thursday and Saturday matinees.
