Back in 1995, the drama department at the then St Martin’s College in Lancaster, staged The Taming of the Shrew at the venue.

Jan Ashcroft, current University of Cumbria EAB Lecturer of the Year, supervised that production and returns for a 20th consecutive year to oversee Alan Ayckbourn’s Woman in Mind, one of two plays presented by final year drama students from the Lancaster campus.

The mini anniversary season in The Round kicks off on January 21-24 with Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, that chaotic tale of true love running wild in the woods.

Woman in Mind, which follows from January 28-31, is a funny yet poignant play about a suburban woman slowly unravelling. Age guidance is 12 plus.

Tickets for each play are £8/£6(concs) on Wednesdays and Thursdays and £10/£8(concessions) on Fridays and Saturdays (a £1 per transaction fee applies when booking online).
