Grimsargh Players production of David Tristram’s ‘Last Tango In Little Grimsargh’ won two trophies in Preston’s 20th One Act Theatre Festival – the biggest of its kind in NW England – at the Preston’s Playhouse Theatre on Saturday night.

Dave Armitage presented the Line-a-Tone Trophy for Best 
Director to Mary Jones and The Smithies Trophy for Best 
Overall Performance. was presented by the Mayor of Preston, Coun 
Veronica Afrin.

And the good news is, if you missed their award winning 
performance, you can see it tomorrow (Friday) night at 
Grimsargh Village Hall for the Cakes and Ale Night – an evening of fun and laughter with a 
performance of ‘Last Tango in Grimsargh’ in the second half.

Doors open at 7pm, curtains up at 7.30pm.

Tickets £7 which includes tea, coffee and cakes.

Ormskirk Theatre Company has been hard at work these past few weeks decorating the top floor of Disraeli’s at 26 Church Street, Ormskirk – the site of their new 50-seat studio theatre, Upstairs at Disraelis.

The doors open next Wednesday, July 3 with their production of ‘The Anastasia File’, a gripping drama being staged over four nights.

The play is set to the backdrop of the aftermath of the Russian Revolution.

When Tsar Nicholas and the Imperial family are massacred in 1917, rumours abound that one member of the family survived the slaughter.

When a young girl is rescued from a canal in Berlin three years later, her actions arouse suspicion.

Can it really be that the Princess Anastasia survived?

The play, based on a true story, is the first of many Ormskirk Theatre Company are planning to stage Upstairs at Disraeli’s, with a new production at the beginning of each month.

Their schedule for the latter half of 2013 has just been announced.

In addition to The Anastasia File, the company are also planning Heaven, Earth and a Horse of Wood (a comedy based around the Trojan Horse legend) and several interactive murder mystery evenings.

And to cap it all, they are still planning to stage Remember, a concert to commemorate Remembrance Day in November (last year’s concert was nominated Best Concert in the North West of England) and a traditional panto with an Ormskirk twist, Snow White and the Seven Super Heroes! at Ormskirk Civic Hall.

Southport Dramatic Club has announced its programme for the autumn season at The Little Theatre, Southport.
