Aspects of Webber marks 60 years on stage

The society is inviting people to attend a welcome meeting on Monday, April 28, at Harris Primary school at 7.30pm to meet the production team and hear more about September’s show.

Preston Musical Comedy Society was formed in 1953, performing its first production, The Desert Song, at The Royal Hippodrome in 1954.

The society has called many Preston theatres home since their first production, including The Gaumont, The Empire and The Charter Theatre which is still used along with the Playhouse.

Aspects of Love focuses on the romantic entanglements of actress Rose Vibert, her fan Alex Dillingham, his underage cousin Jenny, Uncle George and George’s mistress, sculptor Giulietta Trapani, over a period of 17 years.

The aspects of the title refers to the many forms love takes in the show: between couples, as romantic infatuation and as married people, children and parents.

Famous songs include ‘Seeing is Believing’, ‘Sweet Neil’, ‘I Want to be the First Man You Remember’ and ‘Love Changes Everything”

Over the years, the Society has helped many members on their way to a successful showbiz career, including Alfie Boe, John Thomson and Tupele Dorgu.
