All the world’s a stage in One Act festival

This week, Preston’s 
amateur drama groups prove his words as they take time out from the daily grind to come together for the 20th One Act Play Festival at the city’s 
Playhouse.

From Wednesday, June 19 to Saturday, June 22 the 
Market Street West theatre hosts a remarkable 11 one act plays, each by a different 
amateur group, for the festival, organised by the Broughton Players group.

On opening night, Longton Players present Cracking Up, a 20-minute drama by American playwright, Peter M. Floyd, while The Broughton Players offer Plaster, an 
excerpt from Stepping Out 
author Richard Harris’s comedy, Visiting Hour, and The Grimsargh Players present Last Tango in Little Grimsargh, another ‘Little Grimley’ comedy by David Tristram.

On Thursday, the Talented Chicks and Odd Cock Company do Donna Keller’s Having a Drink with Cathy while Preston Gilbert and Sullivan Society perform Jimmie Chinn’s Maureen and The Broughton Players take on Lynn 
Brittney’s A Two Berth Life.

Friday sees Rita Sharp’s Dark Knights Theatre performing her own Game On, Freckleton’s Harlequins doing Stewart Boston’s 40-minute drama, Dialogue, and The Hoghton Players in another Jimmie Chinn comedy, From Here to the Library.

On Saturday, Fulwood’s Hall Players present Welsh playwright Vic Mills’ IED and Preston Drama Club reprise Alan Ayckbourn’s Mother 
Figure, from last year’s Once in a Preston Guild show.
