Special atmosphere at outdoor film screening of Apocalypse Now

Wearing camouflage and equipped with army paraphernalia, film lovers went prepared to Gisburn Forest for a special film screening.

The Apocalype Now Campover at the forest, near Clitheroe, attracted scores of viewers for the 15-rated film, which began at dusk on Saturday.

Audiences were asked to bring a picnic or barbecue and their camping chairs to watch the film, as well as their tents.

Gisburn Forest was the last stop on Picnic Cinema’s tour across the north of England this summer, which has garnered national press attention and praise as one of five of the best outdoor cinemas in the UK.

Eden Arts, the organisation behind Picnic Cinema, is working with the Forestry Commission to put on outdoor cinema in forests.

All profits from Picnic Cinema go back to Eden Arts to help support its rural touring cinema scheme Remote.
