Born in Liverpool in 1940 Ronald Wycherley rose to fame as Billy Fury in the late 1950s to score a string of national and international successes.

Fury continued to score hits well into the 1960s, and remained an active songwriter until the 1980s.

One of the best-selling recording artists of the 1960s, Fury enjoyed a string of hit singles which spent an incredible 332 weeks in the British charts.

A childhood bout of rheumatic fever damaged his heart and contributed to an untimely death on January 28, 1983.
