Season closer on violin and piano

Burnley and Pendle Music Society ends its 18th season on Saturday, with a recital for violin and piano at St Peter‘s Church in Burnley.

Hebden Bridge born violinist Martyn Jackson has won acclaim as both a soloist and chamber musician, and has played across Europe. He is currently first violin of the Cavaleri String Quartet.

Pianist Alison Rhind studied at Chetham’s School of Music and spent 13 years as accompanist at the Yehudi Menuhin School. She is the regular accompanist of Nicola Benedetti.

The programme consists of three works: Beethoven’s Kreutzer sonata, Grieg’s first sonata for violin and piano, and Wieniawski’s Fantasy on themes from Faust.
