They will perform a programme of French works by Ravel, Debussy and Messiaen for the Lancaster International Concert Series.

The individual performers shine as soloists in the first half of the concert, then combine for Messiaen’s poignant Quartet for the End of Time.

The piece was written during the Second World War while the composer was in a prisoner of war camp.

Under extraordinary conditions the work was premiered in 1941 to an audience of 400 prisoners and guards.

The music is regarded as one of the great masterpieces of the 20th century.

Tickets £17.50, various concessions available.
