She may be small, but that didn’t stop Ellie Goulding from owning the stage in Manchester on Friday night.

The 26 year old played a sold out show at the 02 Apollo, to more than 3000 adoring fans.

The pint sized pop singer was in town to promote the deluxe edition of her newest album, Halcyon Days.

A recent shift towards a more electronic sounding record, saw her open with the crowd pleasing ‘Figure 8’ before moving on to ‘Starry Eyed’, which reached number 4 in the UK Charts back in 2010.

Known for her energetic live shows, there was no lack of bouncing and dancing, during her 90 minute set, getting the whole room jumping, on more than one occasion.

It was clear the biggest reaction of the night came however, when she performed her cover of Elton John’s ‘Your Song’ which was received with a huge sing-along from the fans.

She said: “It’s always scary when you do a cover, not knowing if the person who sang it first will like it; but thankfully, he’s a fan.”

Due to phenomenal demand, Ellie plays another sold out date at the Apollo on the 18 October and will be taking over the 02 Arena in London early next year.

Ellie has come a long way in the three years since her debut album ‘Lights’ was released. One thing for sure is that she isn’t going anywhere just yet.
