Making their debut in Chorley were four young talented musicians from the Warrington area, who go by the name of The Original Replica.

This Fab Four turned up at the Rock in the Blues Club at The Minstrel in Eaves Green and took us back to the 50s and 60s – a great time for British music.

That was a boom time indeed and some would say that this was the start of the very commercial pop era.

Liam Mannion on lead guitar and vocals was just superb. His solos and guitar skills were far beyond his years, a mature performance, and the overall sound created by the band was tremendous – yes, the Mersey Sound is alive and well in the hands of these young guns.

The rhythm section of Matthew Gallagher on a fiddle bass guitar and Jamie Jones on drums kept busy and drove the band from hit to hit, while lastly on rhythm/lead guitar with vocals was the equally excellent Philip Murry.

The band played to a packed house and the dancing went on and on, foot tapping stuff.

With wonderful renditions of Roll over Beethoven, Be Bop a Lula, Bye Bye Love, Rip It Up, Mustang Sally, Long Tall Sally, and other classics from Ray Charles, Chuck Berry and the Everly Brothers, the house was jumpin’.

Two of the band’s original songs Lucy and I’ll Never Say I Love You are retro 1960s in composition and very good they were too, a revisit to the Cavern I think.

Watch this space.
