Ramshackle but tight as a drum

On their return to Chorley, Ramshackle performed a fabulous show with a mix of covers and original works.

Simon Noble fronts the band on lead guitar and lead vocals, with Andy Lewis on keys and vocals.

There is a busy rhythm section with Craig Robinson on a mature sounding bass, and John A Hilton on drums.

This quartet makes for one of the best live bands on today’s circuit. The selection of covers from Bill Perry, Walter Trout, Bernard Allinson, The Beatles, Paul McCartney, Johnny Lang and Eric Clapton certainly set the scene.

The second set would have to be something special – and it was. BB King’s Thrill Is Gone opened proceedings, a fitting tribute to a great Bluesman.

This was followed by Lie to Me by Johnny Lang and Susan Tedeschi’s Little By Little, with more covers from Bill Perry, Leaving Mood by Toronzo Cannon, and other hits from Otis Rush, Junior Parker and Oli Brown before several original numbers starting with Little Angel, Mad Man on my Mind, Blind Date with the Blues, It’s Over and Long Way Home, superb works by Simon and the band which you can hear on Soundcloud.

The crowd called for more and the band obliged with Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Tightrope and The Road Never Ends from Mike Zito.

A brilliant show by a band that puts rock into the blues – there’s certainly nothing ramshackle about them.
