Punk legends 999 answer the call

Famed for “pure pop punk” classics like Homicide, Feelin’ Alright with the Crew and Emergency, the latter was included in Mojo magazine’s list of the best punk rock singles of all time.

Formed in 1976 by Nick Cash and Guy Days (still in the line-up), they were soon signed to the United Artists label, and single I’m Alive became a firm favourite in the clubs.

The band’s second single, Nasty Nasty, has been cited as a seminal punk single, and they’ve enjoyed a huge cult following around the globe ever since.

The band is the latest in a long line of classic UK punk acts to have visited the Preston venue, with past guests including Subhumans, GBH, Wire, TV Smith, The Cravats, Vice Squad, Eddie and the Hot Rods and Vic Godard & Subway Sect.

In support is Derby-based Addictive Philosophy, a band that has built up quite a following over the past few years playing slots with such punk and ska royalty as The Buzzcocks, Subhumans, Roddy Radiation, The Stranglers, UK Subs and The Beat.

Lead singer Gez has recently also taken over vocal duties from Martin Roper for another classic act, Anti-Pasti.

Preston /Fleetwood combo Crack Shot, veterans of Blackpool’s Rebellion and Morecambe’s Nice n’ Sleazy festivals, open up proceedings.
