Promenade Orchestra to be Court in the act

The Promenade Concert Orchestra will present ‘Music from the Palm Court’ at the Platform in Morecambe this weekend.

The latest in the successful series of concerts by the orchestra will begin with ‘The Bronze Horse’ overture by Auber and end with the ‘Mikado’ Quadrilles.

In between there are gems by Haydn Wood and Herman Finck, a musical selection from ‘Wild Violets’ of Robert Stoltz, ‘English Dances’ by Roger Quilter and a new composition by a young Cumbrian composer, Robert Singer, called ‘Three English Birds’.

Joining the orchestra is euphonium soloist from Leyland Band, James McLeod, left, who will play his arrangement of the virtuoso piece ‘The Dance of the Goblins’.
