The whole rave scene may have centred on Blackburn’s empty warehouses, but it was Manchester which spawned the return to the acid house bands.

The city freaky danced to the Madchester scene, the Stone Roses, the Happy Mondays and the likes of Northside.

Now the original line up is launching Friday Night Live town-centre initiative at Blackburn’s King George’s Hall on April 25.

They originally formed in 1989 in Manchester amid the scene that also produced The Inspiral Carpets and The Charlatans. The band split in 1992 but after the re-issue of their classic album Chicken Rhythms, in 2006, the band reformed.

With hits such as Shall We Take a Trip?, My Rising Star, and Take 5 behind them, they plan to bring a little of the late eighties, early nineties Manchester magic back to the stage.
