‘The No. 1’ bestselling author drops into Grand Theatre to meet fans, sign books and introduce readers to ‘The Forever Girl’
Bestselling author Alexander McCall Smith is coming to Lancaster’s Grand Theatre next month.
Alexander is the best-selling author of ‘The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency’ series and will be at the theatre on Tuesday February 4, from 7pm.
He will be interviewed by BBC Radio Lancashire’s John Gilmore and will talk about his new book ‘The Forever Girl’.
‘The Forever Girl’ is the story of a young girl Clover who, age six, fell in love with her best friend, James, with whom she happily spends all her time.
But in the adult world, things are not so simple. As the children grow into adulthood, their
connection becomes more complicated: James drifts away from Clover, but she keeps
him in her sights: she attends the same college and follows him to London, Sydney, Singapore, rebuilding her life in every city, hoping that James will see what he is missing.
As Clover and James, and their parents, navigate irresistible but baffling mazes of emotion, we are given a beautifully realised tale about how love, even unrequited, can shape a life.
Tickets cost £5 and are fully redeemable against the price of a book on the night, which the popular author will gladly sign.
