Tia Ferrigno, event administrator at Fylde Coast Running, who are partners on the event, said: “We are really pleased to be working with Lancashire Mind on their very first Mental Elf event in Lancashire.

“Exercise is really important to improving and maintaining someone’s mental wellbeing and we would like to encourage everyone in Lancashire to come along and either take part, or cheer on those who have, around the fantastic Astley Park course.”

Entry costs £10 per person, Little Elves aged 10-16 are £5 each and there are a number of free places for Mini Elves who aged nine and under. Mini Elves must be accompanied by a full paying Big Elf.

Funds raised at the event will enable the charity to support people with mental health conditions and also to provide all the people who live and work in Lancashire with the tools they need to improve, manage and maintain their own mental wellbeing.

Lancashire Mind chief executive, Stewart Lucas, said: Our vision of “Mental wellbeing for all” can only be achieved if everyone in Lancashire plays their part. We need people up and down the county to get involved in our activities such as Happy to Talk, Facing Up and Chill and Chat as well as our fundraising events.”

After the fun run, there will be hot chocolate, mince pies and leg massages.
