Madness for switch on fest

Ska legends Madness will top the bill at Blackpool’s Tower Festival Headland this month.

The band top the line up for the first ever weekend event to celebrate the resort’s Illuminations Switch On.

They headline on Saturday August 31 while Irish rockers The Script are already announced for the night of Friday August 30.

Also on Friday, TV star Jonathan Ross hosts the actual switch on with a guest spot from singer Eliza Doolittle.

Madness front man Suggs is excited to play the first ever Illuminations weekend. He said: “Madness in Blackpool?

“With illuminations? what a combination!

“We’ll definitely be wearing our sunglasses on stage for this one.”

Tickets for Madness go on sale at 9am today, at £20, with weekend tickets for both shows at £45 at www.seetickets.com, www.ticketmaster.com, www.gigsandtours.com or www.visitblackpool.com
