Let George take you on a trip down memory lane

The Dukes at Lancaster is offering older cinemagoers a trip down memory lane – in the company of George Formby.

The cinema will screen Lancashire legend Formby’s 1940’s classic Let George Do It next Monday afternoon, the first of a series of vintage movie matinees.

During a short interval ukelele playing members of Morecambe’s More Music will perform a sing-a-long to some George Formby favourites.

In the run up to Christmas The Dukes will also screen Hollywood classics High Society (starring Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Grace Kelly) and White Christmas (starring Bing Crosby, Dannie Kaye and Rosemary Clooney).

The films are part of a programme of events called Journey Together aimed primarily at older people with memory problems.

A partnership project set up between Age UK Lancashire and The Dukes, the campaign is part of a national drive towards creating dementia friendly communities.

The programme will also include a Fun and Friendly Dance workshop e at the end of November primarily for people affected by the illness. Spaces are limited therefore booking is essential.

The films are public events and all are welcome. Let George Do It is on at 2pm, Monday 18 November 2013 at The Dukes Theatre, Lancaster.

Tickets are priced at £4 and this also includes tea, coffee, pastries and activities 90 minutes ahead of the screening for all ticket holders.
