The community-based non-profit festival, which began in America, will feature bands, performance artists, female writers and visual and spoken word artists – often alongside films, lectures, art exhibitions, debate sessions and arts
workshops.

Organisers are now putting the festival together, planning events and co-ordinating
venues – and already the first event is confirmed, a showcase for folk chanteuse Jane Weaver’s femme folk record label, Bird Records, at the New Continental on Friday, October 11.

Weaver will play her first show with her new band. Support is from Paper Dollhouse and Emma Tricca and Magpahi.

Two warm-p events have also been arranged – with the first this Friday.

Indie pop legends The
Pastels top the bill at the New Continental with support from female-fronted Lancaster duo the Lovely Eggs and Tunabunny.

Then, on Sunday, September 22, there’s a treat for fans of shoegaze as Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier performs at the city’s Mad Ferret, with support from The Chanteuse and The Crippled Claw and Fever Dream.
