Benidorm and Loose Women star Sherrie said: “I am really looking forward to it, it sounds very exciting.

“I’m looking forward to sharing my stories from Benidorm, Coronation Street and Loose Women.

“I hope to meet lots of people from Preston and beyond and hope they come down to say hello”.

Sherrie , who lives in the North West, added: “I have a big interest in food, Thai being my favourite.

“I used to own a restaurant in the south so enjoy the experience of meeting people enjoying their meal”.

As part of the event, Preston’s Business Improvement District (BID), which has organised the event has created a brand new app for people dining out in the city centre

The Love Food Love Preston app features details of where to eat and has the facility for users to contact their favourite eatery via the app.

The app is being produced by local company Fuudey and provides users with the ability to search for their preferred cuisine options.

Members of the public are invited to eat out at restaurants across the city centre and, via a random draw, they could have one of the special guests join them, and their party, for a course of dinner.

Mark Whittle, of Preston BID, said: “There’s been a lot of interest about the event. We’ve had word from restaurants that they have received bookings via the app for Saturday night and people are looking forward to it.

“The restaurants are excited about the visits and the surprise element has created a lot of excitement.

“We’ve also found out that some of the city centre hotels are fully booked. With no local football and no major shows taking place that night, it seems it could be really popular.”

Love Food Love Preston was launched in 2012 by TV favourite Gino D’Acampo, and will see the city centre’s restaurants, grills and eating houses profiled via a huge campaign across the North-West.

The free Love Food Love Preston app is available for download on both apple and android platforms

Those downloading the app have a chance to win £200 to spend in their favourite city centre restaurant simply by entering their email address within the app.
