The comic, who has been seen on TV panel shows including Mock The Week and QI, on BBC1’s Matt Lucas Awards, Dave’s One Night Stand and more, headlines the venue’s Stand and Deliver comedy club night with his Henning Knows Bestest Tour.

Wehn, who is also a radio star, appearing on the Unbelievable Truth and The Now Show on BBC Radio 4, Fighting Talk on BBC Five Live, and even enjoying his own 6 part BBC Radio2 series, Henning Knows Best, appears in the venue’s downstairs main room.

Born in Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, he is now based in London, and is not afraid to play with the British stereotype of Germans, including subverting their perceived lack of a sense of humour for laughs.

He also often sends up their supposed efficiency and punctuality by doing things like going on stage wearing a stopwatch around his neck.

And he also gets laughs by exhaustively analysing and explaining his own jokes, particularly the punchlines, in ridiculous detail.

And he is happy to “mention the war”, endlessly lampooning the British obsession with the conflict, by telling jokes from the German perspective which turn our view of it on its head.

On this tour, inspired by his radio show’s title, audiences will find him a veritable fountain of knowledge.

A spokesman said: “There’s no shortcut to success, hard work will eventually pay off and there is no shame in paying tax.

“But what he knows bestest is that his comedy shows are a guaranteed success. Either he’s funny or he confirms a national stereotype. It’s a win-win situation. Wunderbar!”

The Times referred to him as “Side-splittingly funny,” while the Guardian described him as “A vulnerable man.”
